Y luego, me preguntaron.

Anda, Japs! ¡No me discriminen porque solamente yo no juege golf!

Do not ask me about golf!

Oh, yes, I know golf, I know what it is...

As far as I know, it is one of sports.

But for Japanese business person who works overseas, it might have different meanings.

Every single Japanese business persons working here ask me whether I play golf or not, at the first time.
There was no exception.
I have never come across the people who did not ask me that question.
This question looked like very important for Japanese villager.

I answer the question.

“I do not play golf, neither in the past, nor in the future.”

Then, they ask me “WHY”.

“WHY??” “Why do they ask me why?, do you need any reason why you like red color, or why you do not like snake?”

And what makes me annoying is, they look at me as if I am first leveled disable person when they recognized I do not play golf.

Hey, Japs!! Do not discriminate me just because I do not play golf!!

Saint Tropez

Compramos tres vinos rosas locales.

Monaco

Monaco is a small country located in South France.
Visiting the place, you note it is very different place than other European countries.

First, you do not find any historical footprints
Second, you can see many expensive cars which rarely seen in other countries.
Third, it is very tidy and gorgeous, well controlled by human.

The feeling you are given is quite similar than that of Las Vegas USA.
You can make this country from Las Vegas, by getting rid of childish fantasy and squeezing the street and buildings!

If you like gamble, this is the greatest place in Europe, otherwise…

Best seller books in Spain

23rd April is St Geroge day in Spain, the day to gift a book to the friends.

I came across the news articles about top 10 of best seller books in Spain, I like to introduce you.

1. La Catedral del Mar (=The Cathdral of the sea)

It is best selling books in Spain since published in 2004.
The protagonist who had born unfathered in rural firm place became the richest man in Barcelona and fought for jews. Somehow the process that the protagonist getting rich is too fast, so it is very difficult to sympathize him and his circumstance. But it is good to know how Barcelona was in 12th century.

2. Da Vinchi Code

It is too famous book of Dan Brown. You know better than me.

3. The Pillar of the earth

Arthur is Ken Follet. This is one of the long seller in Europe. You can find this book any airport kiosk with several language versions.

4. The shadow of the wind

The protagonist obtained a book titled “The shadow of the wind” in a place called Thumb of books in Barcelona. He wanted to know who Arthur was and started to chase to the past.
The story is proceeding back and forth in past and now, with two love stories and one suspense story.

5. Angels and Demons

It is Dan Brown’s works before Da Vinchi Code

6. Capitan Alatriste

The film is launched in September 2006 in Spain and become the most successful film in the year. This book is the original story of the film. You can feel atmosphere of 16th Century in Spain called “Golden Century”.

7. Don Quijote

Classic of Spanish literature, written by Cervantes.
I was amazed this books is still on the best seller list!

8. Perfume

Sorry, I have no idea about this book.

9.Harry Potter series

These series are always on the list!. The final book will come in this July.

10. Memory of a Geisha

It is the original story of the same titled film in 2005.

I noted the there were many Christian related books in the list. It is interesting that Dan Brown’s latest works “Deception point” was not in the list while other two works in it.

Michelangelo in Firenze

Pieta of Michelangelo, Collection of Opera museum, which stands just backside of Duomo, Firenze.

David of Michelangelo. This photo was taken at the front of Vecchio palace.

The shorts, I found in the market. Jesus!!

At restaurant of Firenze

We had a dinner at a restaurant when we had checked the day before. Yesterday this restaurant had a long queue. It must be good!!!
And it was so good!
Pizza is very nice and artichoke pasta, too.
Artichoke is not familiar vegetable for Japanese, but it is very famous in Europe specially winter time meal. It is worth to try.

He is baker. When I aimed my camera to him, he made a pose for me.
What a funny guy!!!

Firenze

If you want to see a landscape of Firenze city which is often seen in tourist guidebooks, you would go to Michelangelo plaza (Piazzale MIchelangiolo) .
It is in the south side of the city just across the Arno river.

From this place, you can see all architectures of the city gathering the centre of Toscana plain.
It's really marvelous!!!!

City wall of Pisa and Human wall

Parking in front of city wall of Pisa, we entered the town.

Along the town wall, there were many many souvenir shops.

Among them, some couterfait products were sold by so called illegal immigrants.

Not only in Italy, but also in Spain, illegal immigrant problem is getting bigger. Many of them came from African country with shaky boat.

Some kind of mafia may arrange the trip. They depart from African coast and they reach the European coast of Mediterranean if they had luck. If not, they would disappear from the earth.

Once they arrive there, the government cannot send them back but to release.

Because they do not have any documents that certificate where they come from.

Then, that kind of people started to do that kind of illegal job.

Many other EU country complain to Spain and Italy about this situation.

But I believe, everybody has to have right to choose where you live because nobody had a choice where born.
This problem must be solved much more bounty way.

Nice – Old town

Old town area of Nice is not so old as you expected. The wall of buildings are painted lovely colour like pink or yellowish ochre.

Nice 2

From east hillside, you can see marvelous sea coast of Nice.
The Ocean is blue, the beach is white, the roof tops are red. It is like three coloures of national flag of France.
You can spend a couple of minutes until the next bus is coming.

Meanwhile, I made a quick sketch.

Nice Part 1

If it is the first time for you to visit there, I recommend utilizing the tourist bus.

The bus goes around the old city area and then brings us to a hill that you can see beach below your eyes.

The tour takes almost 1 hour and you can stop at the hill and take next bus if you prefer to stay longer there.

Spring in Provance

Although you cannot see lavender, driving through South France is a lot of fun.

After the hard winter time, the colour of the sky turns into cerulean blue.
Under the softy sunshine, the trees start having fresh green leaves, the flower of wheat add ivory powder to greenish wheat field like frost. Sometime you can come across strong yellow colour of rape field.
Then, venetian red of firm house top give an accent to mellow landscape…

Semi-Automatic collection system

The motorway is free of charge for the people in UK, US and Germany, but for Japanese, French, Spanish, and Italian, NO.

When you drive the motorway along the Mediterranean coast, you come across a lot of toll gate.
Thanks to technology development, some gate has ETC (=Electronic Toll Collection) System but most of the case, still motorway fee has collected by manual.
In France, semi-automatic collection machine is installed in the toll like this photo.

It makes you feel giving a tip rather than paying the fee.

Montagne Saint Victoire

5 Abril, 2007

Mr. Bean’s holiday.

Despite of the busy situation in my work, I went to see the cine with my wife, after work.
We saw Mr. Bean’s holiday in Spanish translation version.

This is the second film of Mr. Bean. The first one had been released in 1997, almost 10 years before. Good grief, time flying…

The film was released the end of March in Europe, but it will be launched in August in US. I believe much later in Japan.

In Spain, it was released last Friday.
We did not have a chance to see in weekend because of fully-booked. Yesterday, also theater is full.
Spanish like a comedy, doesn’t they?

The story is; Mr. Bean entitled free trip to Cannes in the lottery and went there.
However, you know, it was impossible for him to travel without nothing happens…
I love this kind of comedy!

Also, you know Mr. Bean does not speak much. So, there were not so many English conversation but French and Russian.

So, there are a lot of funny episode in the film.

For example,

Mr. Bean, who does not understand French, always says “oi” to French people. However, he always says “Grazzie (Italian)” for thank you in place of French word “Merci”

Three people have conversation with their proper language (English, French and Russian) in a car. And nobody understand what others are saying.

The film had a lot of fun!!

Classic music concert

Last night, I have been to a classical music concert in “Palau de la Música Cátalan (Catalonia Music palace) in Barcelona with my wife.
This place is architecture of traditional Catalonia and designated as one of the world heritage.

The program is all Mozart.

Overture Marriage of Figaro
Symphony No. 40 in G minor K550
Requiem in D minor K626

All three pieces is well known worldwide.

The player was Ukrainian radio symphony orchestra and conductor was Mrs.(!) Victoria Zhadko.

The performance is mediocre, lack of power of low strings, the ensemble of winds are disaster. In addition, there was big mistake in trombone part at third bar of “Tuba Mirum” of Requiem…

However, in total, We spent a good time with classical music.

By the way, how do you think the concert that start quarter past ten in the evening?
